We all know that putting well-edited video clips on your website
is currently very popular – soon all sites will have video clips
– but what does that do to communicate in a live, urgent
and interactive way with your audience? To answer that
question we’ve created the Warehouse38.tv Live Studio
Facility – it’s part radio station, part TV station and
part Interactive media hub! Using this facility you can quickly
create and broadcast a LIVE half hour or hour long show complete
with opens, closes, breaks and all the other elements one
associates with live television – but there’s more. Audience
members can actually join in the conversation using Skype and a
webcam to become part of the onscreen audience! We also add a
chat session so hosts can have instant audience feedback and
polling.
It’s an experience you have to see to believe -
audience members using the power of the Internet to communicate
directly in the arena of traditional broadcasting. Because of
the enhanced connectivity of this online environment - all the
content on the Internet becomes a resource for the show
presenters. For example - if somebody in a live chat session
suggests a website audience members might enjoy, the crew can
call up that website live for review by the show hosts and
audience at large. If a guest has a video on YouTube - that
video can be incorporated directly into the live feed of the
show.
Designed around traditional broadcast concepts (multiple camera
switching, high-quality audio, professional sets, etc.) our
1700 square foot studio is divided into 4 distinct
staging areas. In order to facilitate multiple
back-to-back live events, we've designed a unique mobile master
control that actually slides from set to set - this design is
unique to Warehouse38.tv and was created with live webcasting as
it's sole functionality. As more and more content creators
embrace the power and interactivity of live webcasting, we plan
to stay on the forefront of digital and physical innovation.
The biggest challenge in webcasting is distribution.
If you've got a core, engaged special interest group that
frequents a particular subject-matter website, then you've got a
ready-to-view audience built into your website. But what if
you've got a live show concept that your audience doesn't know
about? How can you get a wide and diverse footprint of discovery
emanating a single stream from a single website? In order to
help develop audience discovery of programming - we've created a
single-input / multiple distribution point
infrastructure in the live space. This system has
several unique requirements: extreme bandwidth (most traditional
studio facilities added internet capabilities after their
construction, our facility location was chosen because of it's
bandwidth availability), multiple hardware encoder / decoder
devices (most facilities have an "encoding computer", our final
compliment will be over 15 systems functioning simultaneously)
and deep understanding of the diversity of output / delivery
options available on the web.
What does this all mean to the end user? This means when your
show "goes live" from our studio it delivers to Ustream,
Livestream, Ubroadcast, Freedocast and a host of others
simultaneously in REAL TIME. This is the largest
possible live distribution footprint available - period. This
means that viewers can experience your content on PC,
Mac, iPhone, iPad, Droid and more depending upon the
public distribution channel they choose. This means your content
will have a much greater chance of discovery as users activity
visit these live sites and search for niche content that
interests them. This means your content can archive in MULTIPLE
locations on the web and be linked directly to your
MySpace, Facebook and Twitter accounts. There is no
other system (to our knowledge) in Colorado that was designed
specifically for this purpose.
The biggest barrier to quality live webcasting is cost - most
traditional media facilities price around obsolete distribution
models and then "tack on" live webcasting, if they can even
offer this capability. Warehouse38.tv was designed
specifically FOR live webcasting. We don't have
satellite uplink equipment, we don't have microwave relay
dishes, we don't have towers to maintain or master control staff
to pay. We use the interent and it's global delivery
capabilities as our "tower" - why would we need anything else?
Not only does this afford you the largest potential audience
"reach" - but because we don't own a lot of 30 year-old
equipment we can offer our services at a price point that
traditional studios and broadcasters can't ever hope to match.
In price point comparisons with other local facilities we often
come in a fraction of the cost of traditional broadcast
facilities. This doesn't mean lower quality - in fact, from our
facility you get SUPERIOR distribution and reach capabilities
for less!
Warehouse38.tv Live Webcasting - immediate, hyper-interactive,
global reach ...and all within walking distance of some pretty
decent restaurants, a very cool chocolate shop and fresh-brewed
coffee. What more do you want from LIVE?

Historic LIVE Webcasts:

2008 National
Presidential Forum on Disability Issues
A lively debate between
presidential hopeful John McCain and people from the
camp of Barack Obama. This three hour event involving
hundreds of people as speakers, presenters and
facilitators was viewed by a huge audience. The player
also included membership information, a poll on current
events and links to other relevant information.

Winning Health Care
Reform 2009
We were
asked by Families USA, a political action group whose
focus is on Healthcare issues to stream their forum
live. Considering the cast of presenters included Gov.
Ted Strickland, former Sen. Tom Daschle, Gov. Kathleen
Sebelius and Sen. Hillary Clinton we were honored to be
chosen for this important event. |
